Republic Lagun Machine Tool Co. Joins USA Luge Family of Sponsors

LAKE PLACID, N.Y.--- Republic Lagun, based in Harbor City, Calif., was named the “The Official Milling Machine Tool Company of USA Luge”. The team received a new milling machine to use at their research workshop in Park City, Utah in mid-July.

The new machine, a Lagun FTV-2L Vertical Knee Mill, is being used by the USA Luge staff to manufacture parts and tools for development-level to Olympic-level competition sleds. The machine also allows the team to produce more parts without having to outsource, creating an additional cost saving for USA Luge.

“The FTV-2L is the best milling machine of its kind--a well-built, tough, quiet and very accurate machine,” said Jon Owen, Western Regional Coach with USA Luge. “We are able to achieve a much higher level of precision in the manufacturing of our sleds. The new Lagun FTV-2L Vertical Knee Mill gives us the ability to complete in-house R&D projects in a much tighter timeframe.”
