Last Runs of the Season

Hi everyone! As March comes to an end sliding is slowly doing the same. This past week we had a few good sessions however spring is definitely here now. Sunny and near 60 degrees has been the trend, which feels great! The track has been holding up though and we have been able to get some good testing in, trying out different things. After this week there will be a bobsled and skeleton America's Cup so no sliding for the Luge team for a little while! It will be a good break, considering we have been at it since the first week of October. Seasons keep getting longer and longer...
But, I got some spring fun in...hit the driving range a couple times and actually had to ditch a layer or two, which is a nice change. I had to laugh at the contents of my car the other day because I had two sets of golf clubs (my boyfriend's and my own) my skis, and a pair of hockey skates. That pretty much sums up spring in Upstate New York.
After our last session this week, I will probably only get two or three days of sliding in before I head home for Easter on the 9th. It will be nice to get away from the "training world" for a little while. After that I head to Florida for some vacation time. I cannot wait to sit on the beach with nothing to do!!
While it sounds like all fun and games, I have already started up my off-season training cycles...in the weight room three days a week and doing agility, med-ball, and running workouts twice a week. I'm really hoping for the nice weather to stick around and for warmth to get here fast! It is always nice to be able to switch up workouts with outdoor activities to keep things fun and interesting.
So far it's going well, and I have a long summer ahead of me to keep things going in the positive direction! I will begin doing more sports specific training and working in our indoor start facility in June. Everything will be gearing up for our National Team camp in early July, where we will do all of our physical testing and set goals for the rest of the summer.
For now, I have a week of homework, spring cleaning, and lifting until we take our last runs of the season...and a pretty good one at that :)
